From Russia with Love

The Christmas at Sea season has just started but what I saw last Sunday at the Roberts Bank Mission will probably be the highlight of the season. It happened when the Trinity C.R.C. cadets from Abbotsford made their annual visit to the Mission bringing their Christmas presents.

I had invited some sailors from one of the ships to welcome them and answer their questions about life at sea, ships, storms and of course pirates! We had a wonderful time together and many questions were answered when suddenly a Russian captain walked in. All he wanted was to buy a few phone cards. I invited him to stay and join us for a while, but he was busy as his ship would be leaving soon.

Then it happened..... one of the cadets approached him and started speaking Russian, catching the captain completely off guard. Then a second cadet approached the captain and began to speak Russian to him as well!

Just meeting children is a treat for seafarers, so you can imagine the captain's pleasure when there was a Russian connection there as well.

Christmas presents from The Tapestry in Richmond

Two members from the Tapestry came to bring presents on a very dark, wet and windy Tuesday afternoon. You see them on board the MV Global Victory.
