To the ends of the earth. - A reminder!

Last week I attended the Christian Reformed World Mission (CRWM) conference in Abbotsford.
It was very encouraging to see so many people who came that day wanting to learn more about the work of CRWM but also to hear about world wide missions. For me, it was a reminder that God is a missionary God who has given us, his church, the command to GO to the ends of the earth to teach and preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ - also to seafarers! I have a brochure at home which is called 'Seafarers Covenant'. It speaks of the importance of maritime evangelism. 'In the extreme pluralisim of the seafaring world, surrounded by a host of other faiths on every side, all more or less pointing out ways to self-salvation, seafarers have an acute need for redemption through Christ alone'... 'We must be reminded that the whole Gospel can never be brought to the whole world, as long as the world of seafarers is not reached' We have pledged ourselves to 'proclaim Christ until he comes.' But only by enlisting the unique witness of the Church Maritime can we expect the glory of the Lord to completely 'cover the earth - as the waters cover the sea!' (Hab 2:14) What a reminder for me!
