Back from Europe

I spent the entire month of June in The Netherlands and Germany. Half of my time there was spent in work related activities visiting the ports and seafarer's centers of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Hamburg among others. The second half of my trip was spent, together with Winnie, visiting family and friends in both countries.

I would have started sharing my experiences earlier, if I  hadn't come back with some health issues.
In fact, I felt fluish most of my time there and experienced a major attack of gout during our final week. Gout affects the joints in your lower extremities and is extremely painful.  I've suffered from this before but, it was always just one toe.  This time it was both big toes!

Another thing that always has a large affect on one's holidays is the weather.  Most of the time it was cloudy, windy, dark and rainy with the sun popping out occasionally during the afternoon.

Despite of all of this, I was very impressed with what I saw and experienced during my port visits. I met some really nice people and, as usual, my family and friends were very hospitable during our visit.

I will share some of my experiences in future blogs.
