Earlier this week The MV China Peace became the last ship to receive Christmas presents during the 2012/13 season . Although January 28 is rather late to receive presents, it comes with a story.
The ship had been anchored at English Bay on Christmas Eve day. As we approached it to deliver Christmas presents at that time, the driver of our water taxi honked the horn, called the ship by phone, while we yelled to see if there were any crew members on deck. Despite our efforts, nobody showed up! It seemed like we had approached an abandoned ship. This week she finally docked at Delta Port to take on coal bound for South Korea. She had been at anchor since December 8. When I approached the Chinese crew members they were first very apprehensive. It took me a long time to convince them that the presents were for free. They thought that I was trying to sell them something. When they realized that the presents were absolutely free they were very happy to receive them, as the picture proves.
The name of the last ship is kind of symbolic; China Peace. Peace for China, peace for Syria, peace for Mali, peace for the world!......... Christmas is about peace, real peace, the peace with God that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. I saw the difficulty of the crew accepting a present that's absolutely free. How difficult it is for us to accept the fact that grace is absolutely free. It's the gift from God. We cannot do good work for our salvation. (Good works is always a result of grace/justification for the Christian ) All our works are like filthy rags! (Isaiah ) and so we end this Christmas Season with the words of the angel when he tells Joseph what name he has to give the baby; " Jesus/Yashua - for he shall save his people from their sins ' and with the words form Paul; ' Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus - Hallelujah!
